Pakistan will open their Unimoni Asia Cup 2018 campaign against Hong Kong on Sunday at Dubai Sports City’s Dubai International Stadium. Pakistan batsman Babar Azam spoke to the media ahead of training at the ICC Academy facility.

BABAR AZAM, PAKISTAN PLAYER

“No team is easy so we will not take the match against Hong Kong lightly. Remember for Asia Cup only the best teams get to play. Though the India match will be interesting, I feel all the five teams are good and will be competitive.

“Virat Kohli not playing in the Asia Cup is an advantage. They (India) do have Rohit Sharma and Mahendra Singh Dhoni who are all experienced players.

“With Mickey Arthur as coach the dressing room atmosphere has changed. All youngsters in the team have been given confidence and self-belief.  The presence of senior players like Shoaib Malik and Sarfraz Ahmed has helped a lot as all the youngsters are able to talk to them and they are very supportive.

ANSHUMAN RATH, HONG KONG CAPTAIN

“We have worked our socks off to get here and we are happy but we are here to make an upset, we have beaten two out of the five teams that are here. We have beaten Afghanistan in the qualifiers and we beat Bangladesh back in 2014 and we are here to show the world what we can do.”

India play their first match of the Unimoni Asia Cup 2018 on Tuesday, 18 September against Hong Kong at the Dubai International Stadium, and a day later they play Pakistan, again in Dubai. Ambati Rayudu spoke to the media ahead of training.
