Young Lahore Qalandars are set to perform in Abu Dhabi T20 Cup

The inaugural edition of Abu Dhabi T20 Cup will be kicked off today, where world’s 6 most exciting teams are going to compete for the title at Zaid cricket Stadium. In this tournament teams from, Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan and Pakistan are going to feature for the first time. The three days cricket extravaganza starts with Auckland Aces to face Boost Defenders today at 4pm UAE Standard time, in the later game of the evening Lahore Qalandars to face Yorkshire Vikings from T20 Blast.

Top International stars will be playing for the teams including Imran Nazir, Abdul Razzaq, (Both are making a comeback after a while in a full event) Shaheen Shah Afridi, Farhan Behardien, Nuwan Kulasekara, Mitchell McClenaghan, Ben Duckett, Chris Morris, Albie Morkel, Craig Cachopa, Colin Ingram, Hashmatullah Shahidi, Kyle Abbott and Johan Botha.

Few cricketing fans terming this Abu Dhabi T20 Cup as a Mini Champions League T20 (CLT20), a tournament scrapped by the organizers in 2014 after staging six editions from 2009 to 2014. Somehow it resembles to that competition too, but it is totally a different event which is going to be witnessing some exciting cricket.

One of the exciting thing for Pakistani cricket fans that their most loveable team of the Pakistan Super League is participating in the competition; noticeably they are going with the many players who were picked during their Player Development Program. Lahore Qalandars just completed their biggest Player Development Program in Pakistan, in which more than 120 thousand aspiring players appeared in the open trail held at different locations of Upper

Pakistan and major cities of the Punjab. They also organized a complete tournament, matches were hosted by AJK city Abottabad and Pakistan’s cricket hub Qaddafi Stadium Lahore, Lahori Qalandars defeated Faisalabad Qalandars in a close encounter. The players from that exciting process have joined Lahore Qalandars team to play in the Abu Dhabi T20 Cup. Their names are Majid Ali, Mohammad Faizan, Farzan Raja, Maaz Khan, Salman Irshad and several others from the player development program.


No doubt it is a great opportunity for a player like who never ever thought in this year’s July, that he will be representing Qalandars in October at Abu Dhabi T20 Cup, no doubt Player Development Program is making Pakistani youngsters dreams true. Everyone knows the value of this opportunity and definitely they are going to grab this and eying to play in PSL this season after giving their best shot in this all important competition. Another exciting news for fans back in Pakistan, that Lahore Qalandars introduced the induction of the veteran All-Rounder Abdul Razzak and an exciting top order batsman Imran Nazir, both are in the news since their announcements of playing for Qalandars in this competition, no doubt the oppositions are keeping an eye on their come back.
