Clinical Lahore Qalandars qualified for Abu Dhabi T20 Cup Final

Another clinical performance by team Lahore Qalandars, after winning their back to back games now they have qualified for the final of first Abu Dhabi T20 Cup. Today they were good in all departments including their fielding which wasn’t at its best last night. After winning the toss and deciding to bat first in their second straight game of the tournament, they put a competitive total on the board, and Hurricanes wasn’t in the game to chase it down the total.

Lahore Qalandars did four changes in their team and gave chances to the whole bench before the final game, It was Mohammad Faizan’s 58 who helped them to make a good total also their captain Sohail Akhtar again managed to score 37, Also Agha Salman’s 37 at the later part of the innings propelled Qalandars to 181, Clark 2 for 33 remained their pick of the bowler.

Run-Chase wasn’t an easy task for Hurricanes, who were playing their first game in the tournament; they had to face a quality bowling line-up which was mix of pace and spin. They could only manage to score 146 at the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs. Only Wakim (43) has shown some resilience while batting for Hobart, others failed to deliver when it matters for Hurricanes.

Friday’s second game between Boost Defenders and Titans starts at 7pm and if the Defenders win they will reach the final to face Lahore Qalandars and tomorrow’s both matches will be dead-rubbers. Yorkshire and Hobart will play on Saturday morning at 11am in a game that decides who finishes second in the group. So far Qalandars are seen as the favorites to win the competition, but who knows in T20 Cricket you can’t predict any winner on the papers or on their recent form, on any day teams can win matches by playing better cricket then their opposition.

Player of the Match: Farzan Raja for his spectacular performance with the bowling.

Brief Scorecard:

Game: 3

Lahore Qalandars 181 for 6 in 20.0 overs (Mohammad Faizan 58, Agha Salman 31*; Clark 33/2)

Hobart Hurricanes 146 for 8 in 20.0 overs (Wakim 43; Farzan Raja 24/4, Rauf 24/1)
