Nicholas Pooran’s swashbuckling 62 helps Northern Warriors win by 8 wickets against Maratha Arabians

Nicholas Pooran once again proved his class with a solid knock of 62 runs off 24 balls with six sixes to put the newcomers Northern Warriors on top and make their win against Maratha Arabians an easy affair in the 12th match of the 2nd season of the T10 League at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Sunday, November 25, 2018.
Northern Warriors hit the winning boundary to cross the target of 94 in the 8th over with 11 balls to spare in the rain affected nine-over match, by losing just two wickets. Pooran entertained the crowd with his consecutive sixes all over and outside the stadium with his steller performance that also include four boundaries.
He was well supported by opener Lendl Simmons who scored 16 and Andre Russell scoring 15 off 10 balls to take the score to 95.
The win helps Northern Warriors to level the top score with Bengal Tigers with 4 points but end up as group champions on net run rate.
Earlier, Maratha Arabians scored 94 for six in the rain-delayed 9 overs, with a run rate of 10.44, powered by Nazibullah Zadran’s 27 runs in just 9 balls with an average of three runs per ball with four sixes.
Opener Hazratullah Zazai became the second highest scorer with 16 while wicket keeper Brendon Taylor hitting 15 off 7 balls and Alex Hales added 13 to give the Maratha Arabians a respectable total.
Hardus Viljoen took three wickets for 16 while Wahab Riaz took two wickets for 20 to restrict the Arabians to 94 for 6 wickets.
T10 League is the world’s first and currently the only professional ten-over format international cricket league backed by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) and sanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC), governing body of international cricket.
The 2018 edition scheduled to start from November 21 and spread over 12 days, will have 29 matches as compared to a 4-day event in 2017. To meet this new challenge and also to keep the event clean, the T10 League management has made many positive changes to bolster the execution and operations of the 2018 T10 League tournament.

About T10 League
T10 Cricket League is a professional ten-over format Cricket League launched by T10 Sports Management. It is approved by the Emirates Cricket Board and the International Cricket Council. It is the first ever internationally ten-over format approved league.
Matches have 10-over-a-side format and duration of 90 minutes. The tournament is played over ten days, with a round robin followed by semi-finals and the final. The 2017 edition was played from 14-17 December at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. In August 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) officially sanctioned the league.
