Pepsi Amateur Cup enters into the final stage

The Third edition of the Pepsi Amateur Cup has entered into its final stage and the situation is becoming interesting day by day. Pool A which is considered to be a tough pool has some close matches lined up as teams struggle to secure their spots in the final. The tournament which began on 10th December is now moving towards a close but the action continues to rise, making every day for the spectators even more exciting.

The highlight of the tournament has been the tremendous performance by the batsmen. While many batsmen have emerged as the shining stars of the tournament, the one who truly stands out is Mannan Abbasi, from Eagle Stars. He has scored 271 runs in the tournament so far and has an average of 54.2. Just behind Mannan is Hamza Babar, he also belongs to Eagle Star and has scored 260 runs in six matches. The raining sixes and fours have made the matches even more thrilling. So far 7 centuries have been scored in the tournament, the centurions include, Iftikhar Ilyas( Mustangs), Zubair Abbasi(Isloo Smashers), Imtiaz Hussain (Webdoc), Suleman Munir (Fighters), Osama Shabbir (Mustangs), M Qasim (Mustangs) and Arqam Abbas (United XI).

The bowlers are also not far behind when it comes to performance. Some perfect Yorkers and deadly bouncers have shown the mettle of these fine bowlers and they continue to impress. Rashid from Korneez Eagles is the top bowler of the tournament so far with 17 wickets in 6 matches. His best figures are a stunning 5/14. M. Faheem from Zong has also emerged as a leading bowler of the tournament 12 wickets in 4 matches followed by Ammad Quereshi from Eagle Star who has got 12 wickets in 6 matches.

In Pool A, Zong, Korneez Eagles, GENX and Eagle Stars are amongst the top four teams. They are neck to neck with the first three teams having equal points i.e. 12. Top 4 teams from each pool will qualify. In Pool B, United XI has secured the top position with 18 points followed by Mustangs who have 15 points. North Rebels and DCC both have 9 points each.

With the finale now approaching closer, the pressure on teams in rising and it is yet to see who will lift the trophy of Pepsi Amateur Cup Season 3, till then we can only wish the teams all the best.
