Phulakewyo and Dussen stars as hosts level the series.

South Africa opted to bowl first after winning the toss in 2nd ODI. With both teams making a couple of changes; Hussain Talat and Shaheen Afridi would play for Pakistan in place of Imad Wasim and Usman Shinwari. While Tabrez Shamsi and Dane Peterson featuring in place of Imran Tahir and Pretorius.

Imam and Fakhar opened the innings for Pakistan. Rabada struck early with the ball as Imam was caught by Phehlukwayo. Babar and Fakhar scored a flurry of boundaries to keep the scoreboard ticking. Rabada again got into the act and this time the victim was Babar Azam, he fell for 12. Hafeez was soon undone by Phehlukwayo for 6 Fakhar’s resistance didn’t last long as he was caught by of Olivier for 26, leaving Pakistan at 58-4. Shadab and Shoaib Malik added 27  runs for a 5th wicket. Shadab’s promotion in the batting order didn’t prove efficient for Pakistan as was dismissed for 18 by Shamsi. Shamsi got into the act again to dismiss the debutant Hussain Talat for 2. Captain Sarfaraz came out to bat at No.8 with Pakistan struggling at 92/6. Experienced Malik left captain stranded at the wicket as he was dismissed for 21. Faheem joined Sarfraz but soon he became Shamsi’ third victim and was lbw for 0 with Pakistan at 112/8. Hasan Ali gave Pakistani fans something to cheer, he struck 5 boundaries and 4 sixes in his entertaining 54(45) while Sarfraz made 41(59) to take Pakistan’s total to 203. Phulakewyo remained with the pick of the bowlers with 4 wickets.

 

Amla and Hendricks started the innings but Shaheen Shah Afridi struck early for Pakistan by dismissing Amla and Hendricks for 8 and 5 respectively with South Africa reeling at 15/2. Du Plessis scored some quick runs before edging Shaheen Shah for 8 with South Africa at 29/3. Miller and Dussen’s half-century stand steadied the ship for hosts before Shadab Khan striking twice to remove Miller and Klasan to leave South Africa at 80/5. Van der Dussen and Phehlukwayo rebuilt the innings for South Africa and both safely survived the onslaught from bowlers. Dussen scored his second half-century off 81 balls, while Phehlukwayo’s fifty came off 55 balls. Both put up a hundred runs stand on 142 balls and safely took their side over the line in an emphatic 5 wicket win!
