Lahore
won the toss against Multan in their first game at Sharjah and elected to field
first and went along the group of four genuine pacers and one spinner. While
Sultans were playing with 4 quicks and one spinner.
Umar Siddiq and James Vince provided solid opening stand for Sultans as they
smoked Lahore’s attack all over the park. The pair put the record 135 runs
stand for the first wicket before Vince’s 84 runs knock was halted by
Lamichhane. Malik promoted himself up the order but could only manage 10. Umar
Siddiq made valiant 53 before getting caught off Sohail Akhtar off Shaheen
Afridi. Russell made 7, while Evans was out for 6 only. Dan Christian’s quick
fire 21 take Sultan’s total to 200/6. Shaheen Afridi remained pick up the
bowlers with 29-1
Fakhar and Sohail Akhtar scored some quick runs for Qalandars at the start of
the innings to coup up with the required runrate. Sohail was undone by Ilyas in
the 4th over as he made 10. Fakhar continued the counter attacking
cricket as his half century came off 32 balls. Qalandars brought up 100 runs
mark in 10th over. Junaid Khan got the key wicket of Fakhar for 63
and Salman Butt for 18 in the same over to announce Sultan’s comeback in the
game with Qalandars at 101/2 in 11th over, Qalandars downfall
continued with Junaid’s 3rd wicket as Agha Salman was caught behind
for 2. David Wiese and AbD joined for the 5th wicket stand and both
took a liking to Sultans bowling by smoking 98 runs in 7.3 overs to take Lahore
over the line!
