Akmal and bowlers setup big win for Zalmi

Peshawar Zalmi took on Karachi Kings, in their first encounter at Pakistan’s soil, with Karachi looking to register another win, and Peshawar hoping to start the Pakistan leg of PSL in an emphatic way.

Karachi opted to bowl first after winning the toss with Imam and Kamran provided a blistering opening stand for Peshawar by smoking Karachi bowlers all over the park. Kamran Akmal brought up his half century off 32 balls, as the pair brought up 100 runs stand in the 11th over. Kamran was the first man to be dismissed, as Munro got the better of him for a scintillating 86. Pollard was promoted up the order, and he smoked couple of sixes in his brief cameo of 12, as he too was undone by Munro. Imam’s patient half century came off 38 balls, but he became one of Amir’s three victims. Karachi bowlers made a good comeback in the last phase of the game, as Sammy made 5, Dawson could manage 9 only. Sohaib Maqsood remained unbeaten on 12, as Peshawar posted a gigantic total of 203/7 in 20 overs. Amir remained the pick of the bowlers with 24-3.

Munro and Babar opened the innings for Kings in pursuit of 204, as Hasan Ali provided breakthrough in the first over by trapping Munro infront for duck. Inform Babar could’t get going, as he was caught off Sameen for 13. Ingram shifted the gears but no one around him really got going. Livingstone made 6 and Dunk too was dismissed for 6. Ingram made a quick fire half century off 26 balls, but last match’s hero Iftikhar could’t make an impact in his game, he managed 4 only.  Imad Wasim and Ingram added 38 runs for the 5th wicket, as Ingram was dismissed for a magnificent 71 by Mills. Imad made 30, but no one from Karachi’s tale really got going. Sohail Khan made 1, Amir and Umer was dismissed for duck, as Kings were bundled out for 142, giving Zalmi 61 runs victory. Hasan Ali picked up 15-3.
