Deserving Quetta Gladiators lifts HBLPSL-4 in a historic final


For crowing the HBLPSL-4 title, the top two teams of the tournament; Quetta Gladiators took on Peshawar Zalmi infront of the pack house at National Stadium Karachi. Peshawar Zalmi was eying their second title, while Quetta looked to grab their first PSL title.

Quetta opted to field first after winning the toss, with the plan to dismiss Peshawar at the below par total. Kamran and Imam begun the innings for Zalmi. Husnain provided an early boost for Quetta, we had Imam caught for 3 by Shehzad. Last match’s hero Kamran Akmal struck few boundaries to regain his confidence but Nawaz got the better of him for 21. Sohaib Maqsood and Umer Amin put on the decent 31 runs for the third wicket stand. Bravo dismantled the partnership when he had Sohaib caught for 20. Nabi Gul and Umer Amin rebuilt the innings by adding 28 runs for the 4th wicket stand. Umer Amin’s resilient 38 runs knock was ended by Husnain with Peshawar at 90-4 in 14th over. Nabi Gul fell for 9 off Fawad Ahmed. Pollard’s fireworks did’t go off today, as Husnain got the better off him for 7 only. Sammy’s cameo of 18 took Zalmi to 138/8. Husnain picked up 30-3.


Chasing a modest, yet the trickiest total of 139. Watson didn’t get going this time around as he was run out for 7, with Quetta at 19-1. Ahsan Ali and Shehzad put on the match changing 47 runs stand to lift the spirits for Gladiators. Ahsan Ali made a valiant 25, as Wahab Riaz got the better of him. Russouw and Ahmed Shehzad got the things going for Quetta. Ahmed scored his half century off 45 balls, as the pair put on the match winning 74 runs to take Quetta over the line with 8 wickets. Shehzad remained unbeaten on 59, while Russouw scored 39.
Wahab Riaz picked up 19-1.
