Windies thrashed Pakistan to register a resounding win!


Pakistan has tough opposition at the start of their ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 campaign as they face-off against the mighty Windies at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Can Sarfaraz Ahmed rejuvenate his side and motivate them to start their tournament with a win or will Jason Holder and co. impose their presence over the sub-continental giants?

Pakistan was put into bat first by Holder after winning the toss, with Fakhar and Imam began the innings for Pakistan. Pair tried to score quick runs in the start of the innings, but Imam was undone early on by Cottrell for 2, while Fakhar’s blitz of 22 was ended by Russell as Pakistan were suffering at 35/2 in the 6th over. Babar and Harris joined for the 3rd wicket stand but the pair didn’t last long, as Harris was caught behind off Russell for 8. Sarfaraz and Babar added 17 for the 4th wicket stand, as Babar fell for 22 off Thomas, with Pakistan at 62/4 in 14th over. Hafeez came to bat at 6, and he put on 13 for the 5th wicket stand with Sarfraz, as Sarfraz was caught behind for 8, while Imad was undone for 1, with Pakistan reeling at 78/7. Hasan Ali made 1 only, as Hafeez lasted for 12 only, as both were undone off short-balls by Holder. Wahab and Amir added 22 for the last wicket as Pakistan were bundled out for 105 only. Thomas picked up 27/4.

Chasing the shortest target of 106. Hope and Gayle cruised to 36 in 5 overs, as Amir struck to dismiss Hope for 11, while Bravo was undone by Amir for a duck. Gayle continued his power hitting as he raced to his half-century off 32 balls, Gayle was dismissed by Amir soon after his half-century as Windies in the driving seat at 77/3. Hetymer and Pooran had the last laugh, as West Indies gunned down the target in 14 overs. Amir picked up 26/3.
