Famous actress Mehwish Hayat paid a surprise visit to Abdul Sattar Hockey Stadium where National Hockey Championship is being played.
She asked people to support their national game hockey and also requested the government to seriously look into this matter.
Players from all over Pakistan are participating in the championship which is lacking basic facilities.
Mehwish was astonished to see the state of facilities being provided to the players. She raised her concerns over this matter and vowed to speak for this game at various forums.
While addressing media, she demanded equality for every sport. “This being our national sport, hockey needs all our support and government really needs to step up.”
Tamgha-e-Imtiaz winner Mehwish also played hockey and was impressed with the level of commitment and dedication young players had.
A couple of days ago, she took it to twitter to raise her voice about the national sport. “Like the arts, sports also represents the nation internationally. We need the government and sponsors to step up and support the hockey federation and players. With credible committed people surely we can get to where we once were.”
She saw a tweet related to poor hockey system during the championship and expressed her thoughts on twitter.
Hockey federation also briefed the actress about recent changes in the federation under new secretary Asif Bajwa.
