A meeting was held today at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ehsan Mani and all the six Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises. The agenda of this meeting was to address concerns of the PSL franchises raised after PCB decided to host complete PSL 5 in Pakistan.
PSL franchises are unhappy with the Board’s decision as this will only mar the beauty of the league. Foreign players have reservations overcoming to Pakistan and staging the whole league at home will not allow them to participate in it.
“It is impossible for us to convince them to come to play in Pakistan for the whole league,” said PSL franchises.
It is true for the record as we have seen in the past that big teams suffered badly when their key foreign players refused to come to Pakistan only for the final few matches.
Prime Minister of Pakistan and Patron-in-Chief Imran Khan advised PCB to hold the entire PSL 5 in Pakistan and PCB is actively working on this decision.
Mani has ensured the franchises that the Board will play its key role in bringing foreign players to Pakistan for the complete league. PCB has also agreed to put their plans in front of players’ agents and boards to get desired results.
Other than this matter, financial issues and tax exemption issues were also discussed in the meeting.
Final dates and schedule of the mega event will be discussed in the Governer Council’s meeting.
