Former batting great Zaheer Abbas has advised Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to appoint local coaching staff for the national team.
Asian Bradman is of the view that players feel more comfortable with local coaches as the language being the major barrier creates problems for both coaches and players.
“PCB had hired foreign coaches previously and the results of it are not satisfactory so it will be a wise move to go for local staff who can understand the prerequisites of the players and work for the progress of the team”, he added.
Front runners for the post of coach are former Pakistan captain Misbah ul Haq, Australis’s Dean Jones and West Indian pacer Courtney Walsh.
Waqar Younis, Mohammad Akram and Jalaluddin have applied for the post of bowling coach while Faisal Iqbal and Mohammad Wasim are looking for the position of batting coach.
PCB has also announced interview panel which comprises of MD PCB Wasim Khan, former manager Pakistan Cricket Team Intikhab Alam, commentator Bazid Khan, Asad Ali Khan and Zakir Khan.
Announcement of the new coaching staff is expected in the first week of September.
