National Amateur Cup – Fifth Round Overview

In the fifth round, 17 matches were played all together in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi. Islamabad had the most number of matches, total 10 matches were played over the weekend at 3 different venues. Lahore had 4 matches while 3 matches were played in Karachi.

NAC – ISLAMABAD

The highest-scoring match of the fifth round was played Black Hawks and Mustangs. Both the teams crossed 200 runs mark. Batting first Black Hawks posted a mammoth total of 215 runs courtesy blistering century from the player of the match Saif Nadeem who scored 108 runs. Mustangs quite easily chased the target in the 19th over and won the match by 5 wickets. Their top order played responsibly and successfully chased the total.

Web Doc also hammered a massive total of 210 runs and won the match by 93 runs. Mohammad Zahid played stormy innings of 61* runs. In reply, Klicks could only manage to score 117 runs and credit goes to the man of the match Mohammad Wajid who sent half of the team back to the pavilion and contributed in his team’s victory.

Mercurial Minds and Islamabad Doosras were involved in a low scoring encounter which was later won by Islamabad Doosras by 6 wickets. Minds posted 120 runs. Doosras easily chased the total with the aid of match-winning knock of 51* runs from Edward Knight which earned him the man of the match award.

United XI successfully chased Spartans’ total of 139 runs from 19 overs and won the match by 6 wickets. Anis Khan’s 44 runs went in vain as the total of his side Spartan wasn’t a defendable one. Man of the match Nayar Raza’s sensational knock of 44 runs guided his side to victory.

Dada Cricket Club (DCC) earned 2 valuable points by registering a win over Rebels. Batting first Rebels gave a soft target of 128 runs to DCC which they chased down in the last over with 3 balls to spare. Player of the match Hasnain Khalid Sheikh was the star performer for DCC who took a wicket and scored match-winning 30* runs.

Isloo Smashers smashed Islamabad Ryders and won the match by 81 runs. Batting first, Smashers posted 126 runs courtesy sparkling knocks from Omer Raja (48) and Mohammad Haris (46). Ryders lost all the hopes in the 18th over and got all out for just 105 runs. Mohammad Zaid starred with 3 wickets & 14 runs off 3 deliveries and he was also named player of the match.

Sportsfever360 XI was a bit unlucky as they got beaten up by Vetran Boys. SF360 XI gave a target of 123 runs which Vetran Boys comfortably chased and won the match by 5 wickets. Alamgir Khan was the man of the match for his 3 wickets.

Korneez Eagles also won their match by 8 wickets. Bronite Thunders set a target of 134 runs which Eagles easily tracked down courtesy man of the match Omar Zafar’s 61 runs. Eagle Stars were also unlucky as Islamabad Knights beat them easily by 32 runs. Abdul Manan was the man of the match.

Fighters secured a facile win over Navy Boys. Umer Khayam’s 57 runs helped Navy Boys post 137 runs on the board. It was player of the match Raja Mohsin’s heroics with the ball (4 wickets) and bat (15* runs) which earned fighters victory by 4 wickets.

NAC – LAHORE

International Petro Chemical (IPC) triumphed over Engine by 7 wickets. Mian Nouman scored a half-century (52 runs) and helped his side Engine in posting a defendable total but the player of the match Umair Azam’s brilliant all-round performance (2 wickets & 57 runs) earned his side IPC victory.

Nespak emerged victorious over Ibex by 29 runs. Nespak set a target of 157 runs which Ibex were unable to chase down. Talal Bin Zahid’s all-round efforts (34 runs & 2 wickets) earned him a man of the match award.

A thrilling encounter between Nestle and Digital Planning Service (DPS) ended up in a tie with both the teams sharing one point each. Hamid Hayat’s 62 runs guided his team Nestle to a decent total of 156 runs. In reply, DPS also scored 156 runs from the given 20 overs with the help of sensational knocks from Zahid Iqbal (45* runs) and Imtiaz Anwar (40 runs). Player of the match Muddasir Ahmed bagged 3 wickets and scored 27 runs.

Motorway Police secured a win over Wateen by 6 wickets. Motorway Police chased down Wateen’s target of 133 runs on the third ball of the 14th over. Man of the match Amjad Hussain picked up a wicket and scored 44 not out runs.

NAC – KARACHI

Aimmzz Trading secured a massive win over Arsalan Iqbal CC. Aimmz smashed 184 runs, man of the match Adeel Khan bludgeoned 76 run. In reply, Arsalan CC got all out for just 70 runs and the credit goes to Mamoon Imtiaz’s destructive bowling – 4 wickets.

Strikers CC was unable to strike at the right time. Al Jannat’s bowlers Uzair Khan (4 wickets) and Shoaib Ibrahim (3 wickets) sent back Strikers CC back to the Pavilion for 98 runs. Al Jannat comfortably chased the score with the help of match-winning knock from the man of the match Haider Bangash (74 runs) and won the match by 4 wickets.

Arsalan Iqbal CC in their second match emerged victorious over Diamond Homes. Batting first Arsalan CC scored 170 runs, player of the match Ammar Iqbal played vital innings of 87 not out runs. Diamond Homes during the chase got all out on 100 runs and lost the match by 70 runs.
