Overview of the action-packed eleventh week of National Amateur Corporate Cup T20

National Amateur Corporate T20 Cup is happening in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. Lahore is progressing towards it end.  Here’s the overview of the eleventh week matches.

NAC – ISLAMABAD

The first match of the eleventh round between Mercurial Minds and Black Hawks was a low scoring one. Mercurial Minds posted a low total of 102 runs which Hawks easily chased in the 12th over and won the match by 8 wickets. Jawad Babar bagged player of the match award for his destructive bowling (4 wickets).

Isloo Smashers smashed Fighters to bag another win of the tournament by 5 wickets. Fighters gave a target of 159 runs which was easily chased by Smashers. Player of the match Zubair Abbasi played a match-winning knock of unbeaten 70 runs to take his side over the line.

The match between Eagle Star and Web Doc was one entertaining one. The high scoring encounter was a nail-biting one.  Batting first Eagle Star posted 181 runs which they elusively defended as Web Doc lost the match by 1 run. Opening pair of Hamza Babar (44) and Manan Abbasi (46) provided a good start to Stars which Arqam Abbasi and Anees ur Rehman carried down the order to post a massive total. Web Doc showed some fight back but couldn’t cross the winning line.

After a couple of defeats, Spartans secured a win over Islamabad Ryders by 1 wicket. Amir Khan’s 47 runs knock went in vain as his team couldn’t post a defendable total.  It was Muhammad Kamal’s gritty knock down the order which took his side to winning line. He was then named player of the match.

Vetran Boys secured a facile win over Korneez Eagles. Vetran Boys batting first posted a mammoth total of 214 runs courtesy Danish’s unbeaten 76 runs. Mahir Rehman provided a decent start to his side Eagles in the chase but couldn’t win it and lost the match by 62 runs. Danish was named player of the match.

NAC – LAHORE

Quarterfinals were played over the weekend in NAC Lahore. In the first semifinal on Saturday, International Petro Chemicals (IPC) emerged victorious over Digital Planning Service (DPS), while in the second quarterfinal of the day, Descon secured their place in the semifinal by beating Enter in the quarterfinal.

IPC batted extraordinarily well and posted 175 runs on the board. Umair Azam starred with his magnificent 92 runs which later earned him the player of the match award. DPS only managed to put up 116 runs and lost the match by 59 runs. Descon successfully defended a low total of 127 runs to win the match. Player of the match Imran Munir’s 49 runs guided his side to a decent total. Enter were unable to chase the total as they only managed to score 116 runs and lost the match by only 11 runs.

Zameen.com secured a win over Jazz in the third quarterfinal by 21 runs.  Opener Zohaib Nabi played a fine knock of 55 runs to help his side post 139 runs. He was then named player of the match. Bowlers defended the total as Jazz were restricted to 118 runs.  Ijaz Rafiq’s 43* runs went in vain as his side lost the match.

The fourth quarterfinal was played between Nestle and Meezan Bank which Meezan won by chasing the total. Nestle posted a gettable total of 139 runs which Meezan Bank chased successfully to win the match by 6 wickets. Man of the match Yasin Cheema played a match-winning knock of 51 runs to take his team to victory.

Semifinals of the NAC Lahore will be played on 28th and 29th December. Meezan Bank will lock horns with IPC in the first semifinal while Zameen.com will take on Descon in the second semifinal.

NAC – FCL

 Two matches were played over the weekend in FCL. In the first match, AC All Stars beat AJR by 8 wickets while SKGT defeated tournament favourite Knight Riders in the second game. AJR batting first, scored 99 runs which were an easy task for AC All Stars as they reached the target in the 12th over. All-rounder Shaheer Langrial bagged the man of the match award for his 2 wickets and 28 runs.

Knights Riders are famous for their monstrous hitting but were unfortunate this time as they could not achieve a modest total of 156 runs and lost all the hopes on just 131 runs. Gufran Mir of SKGT picked up two wickets and scored valuable 47 runs to win the player of the match award. SKGT won by 13 runs.

NAC – KARACHI Diamond Homes secured a facile win over Amadeus Super Cricketers by 59 runs. Diamond scored 174 runs courtesy Arif Yaqoob (39), Mohib Ahsan (34) and Adeel Abid’s (33) splendid knocks. Amadeus had no answer to Diamond’s bowling as they only managed to score 115 runs. Arif Yaqoob was named player of the match.
