Emirates Cricket Board launched new domestic ‘D10’ 10-OVER tournament

“D10 tournament to be broadcast live from July 24th to August 7th 2020 as cricket make a return to UAE”

Emirates Cricket, along with a partnership with ITW Consulting, on Sunday announced the inaugural Emirates Domestic ‘D10’ tournament.

The tournament officially called the Emirates D10, that marks the return of competitive domestic cricket for the first time since the coronavirus lockdown.

“We are very pleased to announce this important milestone in the development of our sport. It has always been a vision of the (Emirates Cricket) Board to develop and add an annual top-tier domestic tournament to the UAE calendar,” said Khalid Al Zarooni, Vice Chairman Emirates Cricket Board.

The six-team domestic tournament will feature UAE’s top four domestic club-teams as well as two ‘Emirates Blues’ teams (formed by Emirates Cricket) – comprising of a mix of junior and senior players. The competition will consist of 34-game & is due to take place in Dubai from Friday, July 24 till Friday, August 7.

According to the Emirates Cricket Board, matches will be streamed “with quality broadcast equipment,” as a result of a partnership with ITW Consulting, an Indian media company.

“We are particularly delighted that the inaugural D10 tournament will be live-streamed on Etisalat (UAE), Cricket Gateway, and other well-known platforms in India, Pakistan, as well as the rest of the Middle East, and across the UK and the USA,” added Dr Kamali.

“We will be following all safety protocols, as stipulated by the health authorities, and as all matches will be played behind closed doors, we encourage all cricket-loving fans to take advantage of the matches being streamed live,” added Usmani.

Bhairav Shanth, Co-founder and Group CEO ITW commented: “We are committed towards cricket in UAE, and we are looking forward to working with Emirates Cricket Board for the long term. Emirates D10 Tournament is our first step towards partnering ECB in future commercial ventures.

Each of five domestic cricket councils has been asked to put forward a club side to play, with the ECB able to nominate two players for each side.
