Al-Saghir Hockey Club, one of the leading clubs in Karachi, which has provided countless players to Pakistan and Karachi, has turned 35 years old. Held in the light of the hockey academy’s electric bulbs, the event was graced with Olympians and international athletes. Chief Guest of the event Olympian Islahudin cut the cake at the ceremony.
Olympian Ayaz Mahmood, Olympian Iftikhar Syed, Olympian Qamar Ibrahim, Olympian Kamran Ashraf, Olympian Kashif Jawad, former International Jan Muhammad and General Secretary Sindh Olympic Association Ahmed Ali Rajput, Senior Vice President Mahfoozul Haq and Rao Javed Iqbal. , Imtiaz Sheikh participated in the event for four months. On this occasion, an exhibition match was also played between Al-Saghir Blues and Al-Saghir Orange in the floodlights of the academy in which Al-Saghir Orange won by five goals to four. From the team Patan Masroor Ali scored two goals, Azmat Pasha, Hassan Raza and Munawar Abbas scored one goal each, while Arif Hanif scored two goals for the Blues, Junaid Aslam and Sameer Saleem scored one goal each. Islahuddin and Qamar Ibrahim distributed prizes among the players while the senior players of the club presented awards to the special guest and other dignitaries, presented commemorative shields and bouquets.
The guest of honor said in his address that he pays tribute to Saghir Hussain for his 35 years of continuous service to the national game and for his steadfastness in his spirit. Due to their hard work and dedication, their club is still considered one of the best clubs in Karachi. Secretary Azmat Pasha and senior player Mubashir Mukhtar also deserve congratulations for leading the club in the right direction with great national spirit. Ahmed Ali Rajput said that he was surprised that the club has such a large number of players. He was also impressed with the discipline of the club’s organizers and players.
